Bio Dome

Chinese (中文)

For those of us who grew up in a city, without much green space around, we only get to see animals in books or at the zoo. And yes, once in a while you might see a rabbit, squirrels, or chipmunks darting around. And if you are really lucky, you might run into a deer (though hopefully not run OVER a deer).

Invading others’ privacy is human nature, and such it is with us. Therefore, we decided to go invade some animals by driving all the way North to Montreal to visit the Bio Dome located beside the old Olympic stadium.

The idea of the Bio Dome is to create ecosystems that mimic the natural surroundings of various animals. This allows them to live comfortably and us to see them in their natural state (kinda), whether that be the Tropical Forest, Arctic or Antarctic. I wonder how much energy it cost them to create these ecosystems?

Right at the beginning, we were startled by this guy!!

Then this big fish gave us a look that seemed to say “where's my dinner?”

We noticed a lot of pairing animals sitting side by side on the branches. That's kind of sweet!!

I never knew that frogs can be poisonous until now – the Green and Black Poison Arrow Frog.

If we can be friends with dogs, then why not a Crocodile with a Turtle?

I can’t believe that this Beaver actually swam up to us!

The Lynx looked angry the whole time. It's got that “you stupid humans, if I get out, I am going to eat you all” look. Not very attractive.

Penguins and Puffins are highlights at the Bio Dome, and they have many of them. They are very cute, and also curious about us as well!

I thought about buying a pair of love birds at one time. They're really cute and they stick together all the time. That's why they are called love birds.
