Hiking @ Mount Elmore

中文版(Chinese Version)
The pictures online do not tell you the level of the difficulty of each trail, nor can the guide books measure the energy you have to expend. However, this time we have to emphasize that the trail at Mount Elmore is harder than we expected.

We really had to climb parts of the trail here. Instead of just using our feet, we had to use our hands and legs to climb on the smooth and wet rocks. With assistance from the tree branches and exposed roots by the side of the trial, we were able finished this hike sounds and safe.

We believe the length of this hike is about the same as all the others we had done before, but we were much more exhausted than all these other hikes we had done.

A snake was resting on top of the mountain.

We went to the beach afterward, probably not a natural one but good enough for a rest and some snacks.

Hiking @ Long Trail

Chinese Version 中文版
Every time we’ve been on a trail, we have hoped to encounter wild animals. Maybe not a black bear, but something larger than a chipmunk at least. And all this time, we were a bit surprised that we’ve spotted nothing. Our guess was that they sensed our presence. During hiking season especially, we run into many people.

This time, we heard something!!

While we were observing some holes on a tree, a sudden thundering noise frightened us! It was very close, about 10 feet away, yet we saw nothing but the shaking of branches and dust. After the fact, we realized it must’ve been a deer. The sound was like horse hooves pounding the dirt, but we had never experienced it so loudly. We felt a little cheated out of a chance to see wildlife, especially since it was so close, and we were busy looking at nothing. Nonetheless, it was memorable and we were stoked the whole way up the mountain thinking that wildlife is never far away.

Hiking @ Sterling Pond Trail

The week before last, we revisited to the Sterling Pond trail, we were there last September.

There were two reasons for wanting to go back this time: We enjoyed the hike last fall so it’s time to go again; secondly, it was misty up top last time, and we want to see the clear pond this time.

It feels like a reward to be able to enjoy such beautiful scenery after making the effort to climb up 1.2 miles and 1200ft up.

The weather was so nice that Ian almost wanted to jump into the water, but honestly, it was still too cold to jump into the water. I am glad that we didn’t bring extra clothing for it, but this dog can’t resist the temptation.
